“The Good Shepherd takes care of the sheeps.” - A child of the Atrium, age 3
Our littlest parishioners have such a beautiful capacity for understanding on a deep level the goodness and care of God, The Good Shepherd, for each of them. They contain within them a natural capacity and desire for relationship with God.
This is one of the core principles of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) method founded by Sofia Cavalletti and her Montessori collaborator, Gianna Gobbi, in Rome beginning in 1954. This is the method used for religious education here at our parish for children ages 3 to 12. The children gather in a space prepared especially for them called The Atrium. Our program consists of a Level 1 Atrium, Level 2 Atrium, and Level 3 Atrium.
